What is a donor portal?
A donor portal is where each donor sees their own pledges and what's outstanding on each one, reads impact updates, and gets reminded before an instalment is due. It follows the Tracking pattern: a person's or asset's history, built up over time. Pory generates it from a plain-English description, with a login for each role (donor and development team) that shows only what that role should see, and flat pricing with unlimited donors.

Donors who asked where a pledge stood got a letter from the finance team two weeks later. In Pory each donor signs in to their own pledges: the fund, the amount pledged, what's outstanding on that pledge and when the next instalment is due. The development team stops answering the same balance question by post.

Impact updates donors read in the portal, not a glossy PDF
Impact reports took a quarter to produce and arrived as a PDF most donors skimmed on their phone. In Pory the team posts short impact updates on a page donors see when they sign in: a school joining the reading programme, a library club reopening. Donors hear what their pledge did while it's still news.

Donors hear before an instalment is due, and thank-yous don't slip
Reminder letters and thank-you cards both depended on one person's diary, and both slipped in busy months. In Pory each pledge carries its next instalment date and a thank-you date: the donor gets a reminder in the portal and by email before the instalment, and the team is reminded when a thank-you is due. The Christmas thank-yous stop going out in February.

Pory generates a portal from these pieces and wires the permissions between them. The same parts run a grant round, a help desk, and a tenant portal — only the names on the pages change.
